Moving story of one young girl's story when she is sold into prostitution in India. It's well-told in vignettes rather than chapters; secondary characters are, for the most part, well-drawn. It's tastefully done, quite touching, and I think YA girls would enjoy it. For adults, too, it's a fascinating look into a dark underworld and the toll it takes on its victims. ...more

This is a heartbreaking story based on the true experiences of hundreds of young Nepalese girls sold into the slavery in the Indian sex trade. It is well written and quick, but sad read. Hopefully we can somehow put an end to this tragedy world-wide. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to hear an experience about this.

This book will break your heart and piss you off at the same time. A 13-year-old Nepalese girl is sold by her stepfather to someone she believes will give her a job as a maid. She is sold twice more and ends up in a brothel in India. There, she endures cruelty at the hands of the "madame" and is forced into prostitution. What really makes this difficult to read is that situations like this occur ever day. This book made me curious to learn about people and organizations who are trying to put an ...more

I liked the poetic style in which this book was written and it was a quick read that drew me in. I can't really say that books about sex trafficking in nepal are enjoyable, it was actually pretty painful and depressing. but life can be painful and depressing, and i'm glad i read the book because the issues are very real and something that needs to be paid attention to. ...more
