This book picked up right were the first book left off. Yay! I love it when that happens. The book was a quick read as I was continually wondering what would happen next in the peculiar kids' journey to...(don't want to give anything away). I didn't love it as much as the first book but definitely a fun read for summer.

Riggs is onto a good thing with the alluring old photos he sprinkles throughout the book - the backstory he provides to the arresting cover shot is particularly well-done. While we're clearly headed to Act III based on the cliffhanger ending here, I enjoy the story Riggs is laying out - each peculiar gets an interesting part to play and he refreshingly highlights their strength of their friendship rather than playing up the romantic angle he has running in the background.
