I quit: I don't like the main character, I don't care why he is going to a robotic therapist and I'm not interested in starting the umpteenth series, so no more Heechee saga for me, even because I'm not interested in them anyway.

Interesting book, with three distinct components. There is the tale of the prospector, engaging in a SF-Style ‘Cargo Cult’ in the hope of riches, and that is quite an engaging read, despite the main character causing me some issues.
The little advertisements and snippets are also an excellent way of fleshing out the story and work well, but I would have preferred them between chapters.

Gateway is the first book in the Heechee saga. I read this a long time ago, and liked it at the time. This time around, I hated it. I don't know if it was because it was on audible vs reading, but the main character spends the whole time ruminating on the terrible experiences he went through, as a prospector on Gateway. The other part of the book, details his experiences as a prospector, but even then he's so self absorbed, you want to beat his head against the wall...
