Intriguing concept and decent writing. In the end, though, this book almost managed to say something... then, it didn’t, and I’m left wondering why.

Six years ago I only gave two stars to this book. I decided to read it again and, somehow, this time around I enjoyed it a lot more than than the first one. I did not remember much but I had a general idea of what the book was about. It is a psychological horror story mixed with science-fiction. I loved this book. I enjoy the slow, eerie buildup of tension and creatively weird science. The archaeologist in me wanted to go to this world and document everything…but I doubt that would end well. I can’t wait to get to the next two books!
