I was a little disgusted with this book.
No, actually, I was very disgusted with this book.
If I was presented with an action-adventure novel wherein the main character was an apologist for Hioroshima and Nagasaki and throughout that novel kept saying things like "well, the US were only trying to prevent further death and stop the war from escalating" I would probably take that book and rip out every single page individually before setting it on fire.

I struggled with this a bit, as I'm not really a fan of YA, but I'll go ahead and say that if you do like YA, add a star.
So, despite not being a fan of YA and having a lot of issues with one of the protagonists, overall I liked Lost Stars. One of the things I enjoyed most was the glimpse into daily life at an Imperial Academy, seeing the classes and skills learned as well as the imperial indoctrination. An interesting take on a story we all know but from the point of view of people on the other side. Tradition, honour, duty, respect, morality are all themes examined in this book which give it a depth not found in the traditional; rah-rah rebellion/new republic, books. What does it mean to live inside the bubble? What happens when you realize the bubble isn't what you thought it was, what do you do, and how does it change you?

I really enjoyed this book!! I am a Star Wars fan thanks to my hubby and the COVID lockdown 😂 I’ve followed Star Wars shows and movies ever since. This star crossed lovers story was so good and I loved the cameos/mentions of some major characters! Really brings a smile to your face. But also loved the POV from outsiders of major canon events. Ciena and Thane are two childhood friends that grew up on “different sides of the tracks” and we watch their journey through the ranks of the empire and wh

Wow. I really enjoyed this book!
It was totally the different point of view that I have always thought would be interesting to experience in the Star Wars universe. Seeing how the war touched different of society on both sides and the personal struggles that resulted.
