I've read a lot of fairy tale retellings. There aren't a lot of rewrites of Little Red Riding Hood that I've come across though there are a few. Most of them are just meh. This one is fabulous. This is the next installment of the Lunar Chronicles. Cinder starts out in jail waiting for her pending execution. She is working on escaping so she can make her next plan. Then, we have a new character Scarlet. Scarlet's grandmother is missing and so she's trying her best to find her even though many of the people including the authorities have written her off as crazy! But, Scarlet will not give up.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as Cinder. I didn't like Scarlet as a character; she was whiny and selfish and I didn't understand the majority of her decisions. I also didn't care much for Wolf; I must be too old for the tall, dark, and broody type. I definitely could have done without the insta-love. The saving grace of this book was Cinder, helped out by Thorne. I loved seeing a platonic guy-girl friendship and theirs evolved so well.
