There's something more chilling in reading a novel written in epistolary format, especially when the journal entries and newspaper clippings used in the storytelling pertain to strange events and even stranger creatures.

This book started out exciting as Jonathan Harker journeys to meet Count Dracula in Transylvania. He is imprisoned in Dracula's castle while Dracula makes plans to travel to London where there are more people to victimize. However, when the scenes change to London, the book starts to become boring. One of the characters, Van Helsing, makes long, repetitive speeches that bogs the book down. So I have recently been trying to read the classics, and while there have been some good ones I have found myself very frustrated because I have read some that gave me nothing.
Then I read an amazing review of Dracula. And decided to go ahead and tackle it. I am not the type of girl who is very interested in horror, or even vampires. I read Twilight to see what the fuss was about but they sparkle and that just makes me laugh. I use that first movie as a nap movie (seriously try and make it ...more
