What Members Thought

This is one that I have eagerly anticipated ever since the author released the information about the book, and now, having read the book I can honestly say that the anticipation was not wasted. This is a book that will have to go in my permanent library.
Right from the start the characters fell into place, and the patterns are well remembered ones from books that I haven't read in years. Originally I had planned on reading the original H. Beam Piper copies prior to reading this book, but now I a ...more

It’s not often I read a book that causes me too laugh aloud. This one did, however. And several times, too. It has been a long while since I so thoroughly enjoyed reading a book. I was glad I took the time to read this one. My wife thought I was crazy for the frequent outbursts, but I suspect she will be poking around soon enough and will sneak a peek and read this book as well.

I enjoyed this re-imagining of the Piper classic, but as with that book - I was also somewhat frustrated. I wanted more background on the titular creatures. What we got was compelling and interesting, but not nearly enough. Virtually nothing was revealed about "Fuzzy " culture, traditions, lifestyle, etc. Instead it focused on the human characters. It would have been great to see a chapter or section of the book told from the perspective of the Fuzzies.

Excellent book. Listened via Audible read by Wil Wheaton. Although a lot of "he/shes said, he/she said" that was distracting, it was one of those rare books that is funny and serious at the same time, while causing you to sit in the car to listen at your destination instead of going in. Great listen!
