His Majesty's Dragon begins at the end of a victorious battle. Captain William Laurence of the British Navy boards the enemy French ship and finds treasure beyond imaginging - a dragon egg. Dragons are used by the various world militaries as a sort of aerial unit in this Napoleonic alternate history, and the British have few, making the discovery all the more important. What I really got was a military book that takes place during the Napoleonic wars and just happened to have dragons in it. I thoroughly enjoyed this and am I glad to see it's part of a series!
