This is perhaps Dame Christie’s ultimate achievement in mystery-writing.
Ten strangers are invited to a private island off the coast of England. On arrival they find that their mysterious host is not in attendance. Instead he has left a recording to be played after dinner, in which each is accused of having committed a murder in their past. Shortly after this revelation, one of them dies after drinking a whiskey laced with cyanide. The next morning another ...more

The cover of my copy of this book claims Christie is "the queen of mystery." Queen, indeed! Why have I waited so long to get around to AC?! And Then There Were None is a masterful murder mystery full of suspense and intrigue. I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this quick read. I'll definitely be adding more of AC's works to my tbr, beginning with Murder on the Orient Express.

The book is a fantastic murder mayhem mystery. There is no Miss Marple. There is no Monsieur Poirot. There are just… murders… mystery… and lots of maybes….
I love the suspense and the wonder of how exactly is the murderer going to be revealed or whether it will be revealed at all. I love Miss Marple & Monsieur Poirot but I reckon this is one of Christie's best work ...more

This was my very first Agatha Christie novel and I have to say that I loved it. It certainly won't be my last novel. The mystery was very brilliantly thought out and I spent most of the book trying to figure out exactly "who dunnit". I debated quiet a few theories and I was half right on one of my theories, but as it was not my final theory, I guess I can't really count myself as correct.
The main problem I had with this book is that I had trouble keeping track of who was who. So many characters ...more

A wonderful book. The story is incredibly clever. Don't think I've ever read anything so quickly. Normally I skip ahead to find out what's going to happen, but with this one I stopped myself and I'm so glad I did.
I didn't guess who was behind it all, but I didn't care it was just a pure joy to read.
It's a fantastic idea to have an isolated island that begins with a houseful of bodies. It reminded me a little bit of an Inspector Calls - in the way the characters were forced to confront their ow ...more

Took forever for me to get into this book but I finally made it. It was okay, nothing exciting to me. I guess I can see the appeal of the book for what it was in its time but it really wasn't suspenseful or surprising or anything like that to me.

One of the best-known mystery stories of all time and still a really good read more than 70 years after it was first published, even if it does require an increasing amount of suspension of disbelief. Eight people are invited to a mysterious island where, instead of their expected host, they are greeted only by the butler and cook, a married couple only recently hired. The opening of the book is delightful as we're introduced to each of the characters. On their first night a gramophone recording
