I am very happy that Tale of Two Cities was my first Dickens because I think that if I had started here I would have missed some of the beautiful language trying to get at the familiar story. A Christmas Carol is a christmas classic for a reason. I just wish that I had been able to read it without automatically thinking of several of the characters as muppets.

I have to admit that i am not a fan of the Christmas Carol movies. Never been and really doubt that i'd ever would be. Therefore it's not really surprising that i didn't exactly like the book all the way. This was the first Dickens book i had ever read and i read it for a challenge. Needless to say i'm not exactly in a hurry to go grab his others. You can tell Dickens got paid by the page because there was a great deal of editing needed to be done.
