I 1st read this book at the age of 11 or 12, under the much more racist title of '10 Little Indians', having taken the ancient, crumbling novel out of my school's library.
At that young age, I liked the book for the simple mystery of it- I wanted to SOLVE the case, dammit!- not caring about writing techniques or things of that nature. Also, I had outgrown 'Sweet Valley High' and 'Goosebumps' and 'The Babysitters Club', switching to the ADULT novels in the limited library that we had at school.

I loved this wonderfully crafted mystery by Agatha Christie. Ten people were invited to an isolated island home for the week. The host never shows, but a recording accuses each guest of causing someone's death in the past. One by one, the guests are killed. With no boat and a raging sea surrounding the island, there is no means to escape. Their terror increases as they realize that one of them must be the murderer. when i finished the epilogue, i thought the book was over, and i was surprised by the ambiguous ending!! i spent a while pondering the ambiguity (view spoiler) before reading the actual ending, which describes the killer's actions in great detail. yeah, i'm a dumbass. but damn, all of those details are tricky (and perhaps a bit farfetched).
