I don't understand why this was the book that got Sanderson into with the YA crowd that more than doubled his readership from what he had 8 years before this book came out. Finishing up 1 of the biggest fantasy series didn't help gain as many new reader as this book did, as the YA crowd is bigger in size that loves recommending books to each other. Then younger readers does not like or want to read books not published over 10 years ago, think ideas within them are outdated.

Shelves: reviewed, series, first-in-the-series, person-on-cover, 2013, us-author, young-adult, 300-400-pages, read-in-november, read-in-2019

While reading this book, I kept feeling as if it was set in the same universe as Megamind. I liked the movie — and also this book but in a very meh sort of way.
