What Members Thought

Done. I am so glad that my friend all but pushed me to read this. And I'm so glad I did. Martin is amazing at world building and while that takes a lot of up front stage setting, you definitely become invested with the characters. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series as well as watching HBO's series.

Outstanding! 33 hours of listening and well worth it. I can't wait to listen to the next in the series.

Addictive. The lushness of Tolkien. The ease of reading like a good Stephen King novel. I love that no character is spared if their death will help speed along the plot line. Hard to read in some places if you are the type of reader who gets emotionally vested in a character. Could be triggering for readers who are abuse or violence survivors.

I watched the HBO series first and was amazed by how closely the series adheres to the book. The nice part about the book is that you get more detail about the different characters and more about the history of the world the author has created. Great fun, all in all. Tyrion is my favorite character.

It took me three tries to finally get through this book. It started slow and there are So. Many. Characters. Once I got into it though it was really good. Ultimately I plan to read the rest of the series but I'm not really in any kind of hurry.
