This book (and the subsequent books in the series) has the makings of a great story, however what I struggled with is an inability to connect with alot of the characters. Don't get me wrong I love the Game of Thrones characters, particularly Dany but when the POV changes every chapter its hard to keep reading. Usually I plow through a series but I found it difficult because when I was enjoying hearing about Dany, a less interesting character would appear and I would lose interest. Nonetheless I ...more

It took me a long time to finally get around to reading this -- I started it first a couple years back on kindle and got to a certain point before my attentions and time were taken by other things and shorter books were more satisfying since I could actually reach an end in a day or two.

This time I picked up the audio version instead and I'm really glad that I did. The narration was well done and it really made the story flow for me in a way that it just hadn't in print. It's a vast world and im ...more
