Wow, even better the second time through! So much happens in this story that it's easy to miss many of the details in the first read. This time I saw the story unfold from a very different perspective as I knew what was ahead of them. It made me really appreciate the talented Suzanne Collins. She created an amazing futuristic dystopian world, then showed it to us from the point-of-view of a seemingly insignificant young lady named Katniss. (Who turns out to be anything but insignificant).

This book was very enjoyable. It had me hooked from the first chapter. The storyline reminded me of a movie I had seen. I did find it quite disturbing how they used children for these games and the process of how they are chosen to participate in the games.
I loved Kadniss. She was a strong character and her feelings for situations were true.
It was a quick read because it was hard to put down. I did enjoy the ending because of the twist at the end. I've already started the 2nd book in the serie ...more
