It's been a while since I stayed up to finish reading a book (ever since a few months ago when my morning sickness extends to reading!) and this is the first book I've found that I just could not put down!

The first few pages alone pulls you in by the description of life in the districts and how people relate to each other. Katniss' volunteering to save her sister will absolutely touch your heart. She's brave, intelligent, strong but is absolutely blind emotionally. Considering her age & backgrou

This was a very interesting book. I love those 'what if' kinds of books.

After rewatching the movie, I decided I needed to reread the book. It had been several years since I'd read it and it has become a huge senstation now. The author takes "gladiator" gives it a futuristic twist then adds "romance". I look forward to reading the second book. ...more

I am incredibly sensitive about any novels that involve children now that I am a mother, and just the thought of a premise that involves children being forced to fight each other to the death makes me feel incredibly squeamish. I read it for a book group though, and I was surprised to realize that this was actually a really good novel! There was something about the writing style that kept it very interesting with just the right amount of intensity, ...more

This is an amazing, action-packed story of survival with a decent hint of romance thrown in. The Hunger Games are so brutal and bloody, I can't help but be a little surprised/impressed that this has been made into a film, considering the contestants are children. The prose style is very straightforward, making this a super-quick and easy read. ...more
