"We shouldn't have that power."

Wow, what a dark, twisty little sci-fi story. A true test of someone - their memories. They help mold and shape us - our experiences. But what if we could change that. And what if one change for someone actually changed it for many, and you then HAD both memories, one dark and grayed.

This one definitely asked the tough questions and pushed some great moral buttons. Is it right to play with time - past and present - if you can "save" someone. Who's to say that one t ...more

Barry Sutton is a police officer who becomes interested in false memory syndrome after trying to help a suicidal women with it. People suffering from the syndrome have memories of different events occurring in their life along with the life they are living. Helena Smith is working on a device that will store memories to try to stop alzheimers disease. The story rapidly becomes more complex but it is also a compelling page turner. Oh my goodness is all I can say about Recursion. This book was a complete mind boggler in a good way. This was my first Blake Crouch book and I was blown away. The entire concept is something I am interested in and he did a wonderful job in executing the story.

In the beginning I admit I would get a little lost as to where the timeline was, so I just had to make sure to keep track of dates that were written. I did have to put the book down a few times, not because I wasn't interested in it but be ...more

I thought this book was very well done. I really don't like books like this one when they are not done well because I don't like being confused and not understanding what is going on. I did not have that problem with Recursion. I loved all the characters and found the plot fascinating rather than confusing. The author does a very good job keeping potentially confusing explanations understandable. He doesn't over explain the science. I am sure there are tons of reasons why things couldn't happen ...more

Well that was quite the ride! It starts off by introducing Barry and Helena, two people in different years, who don’t seem to have any connection to each other. But they get dragged together as Helena unwittingly creates a powerful piece of technology that could destroy the world, and Barry sort of stumbles his way into helping her stop it.

There is a lot of timeline play and back and forth. The last book/part gets repetitive and hard to read but I think that was the author’s point. This is hard ...more
