This book is not for the faint of heart or need an easy read. It's 545 pages, 0r 19 hours and 45 min of listening in my case, of W..T...F is going on here!
There are no heroes, no good guy/bad guy lines in the sand, it is war in all of its ugly cruelty. The book begins like a trope of poor orphan girl trying to make a place for herself in the world, mean foster mother that main character must escape or exist in living expiration as a drudge or young bride for an old man to seal a deal.
