I see myself continuing this series. It's been interesting story. With all the special abilities with metals. Plus trying to take over an empire. With thieves, betrayal, friendship etc.
I like this story. I'm knocking off a star for the falling in love a bit unexpectedly. But Vin was a interesting character she totally grew up and learn to trust others.

This book was so freakin good. Vin isn't the most likeable main character. She's just...alright. We feel sorry for her past but that's about it. However, I respect her. She has been through so much in her life. She's an orphan, she's been abused, homeless, and left to fend for herself as a young lady. She's got trust issues understandably so. The day she meets Kelsier her life changes. Kelsier brings her into his crew of misfits. The banter between them and the way they care about each other war ...more

I hadn't read fantasy in a while. I really loved the world Brandon Sanderson created here. I thought the characters were memorable and the magic system was clever and easy to understand/follow. I really liked Vin as a main character and her journey through the book. The world building, while not terribly detailed outside Luthadel, gave me enough to want to read more in the series.

Sure, Sanderson's style in this novel is basic, but it makes for a very readable and entertaining experience. Looking ...more

DNF-ing at approximately halfway... I've read & loved other Sanderson's books and I know that the middle bits usually drags and the last 20% or so will be awesome BUT, nearing the end of 2nd month of lockdown with at least another month of same, I feel that I can NOT slog through this. I need something snappy so I'm leaving this for now & hopefully will try again in future when the world is not as topsy turvy. ...more
