Wow. That was intense. I need to read the next in the series soon to see how the rest of this goes.
I really enjoyed this book! Found there were a lot of parallels to Hunger Games and other similar books but this was a pretty refreshing take & I enjoyed it. Definitely recommend! Looking forward to reading the second in the trilogy!

3 stars for the interesting but slow beginning of the book, 2 stars for the dry prep in the middle, then 4 stars for most of the intense Institute Game. Dystopia isn't my thing, but I've heard great things about this book and someone chose it for me for a challenge. I think I am going to listen to the rest of the books in the series.

Fantastic book to start 2022! Man, this guy can write! Terribly engaging story, full of memorable characters - Darrow, Mustang, Sevro, Roque, Pax...I probably would have given it 5 stars, only I'm personally not as into long descriptive "battle" type scenes and there were a lot of those in here due to the nature of the storyline. However, the characters more than made up for those and I found myself getting attached to quite a few! I am eager to see where Darrow's story takes him. Will for sure

okay...um...okay...this book...yeah... I'm not sure where my feelings on it start and where they end. It was hard to get into. There were chapters I had to trudge through for sure. But the ending (not really the ending because it is a series) but the ending was worth it. The depth of the world and the characters are really what got me. I felt things for sure, but mostly anger and frustration. Not because of the quality of the book but because of the story itself. I wanted justice, but I must be

This book had a weak start but by the end of it I didn't even care. Looking forward to Book 2!
