The pain spread from my hips into my whole body, pulling my bones apart.

The tenth and final book in the Kate Daniels series begins with the birth of Kate and Curran's son. A time lapse of a year passes before the story picks up. Kate is called on by Teddy Jo to investigate the disappearance of an entire community. Their discovery is gruesome and worrisome. Kate soon has to request the assistance of The People, the Witches, The Order, Luther, the Pack and unwilling druids.

Wow!!! I wasn't sure what to expect with Kate being pregnant at the end of the last book, but it was handled very well and Conlan is completely adorable! Kate and gang are overwhelmed as usual with the threat of attack eminent. I love how the authors brought in so many loved characters and gave them some time, but it was really focused on Kate, Curran and Conlan.

What a ride this has been. And it comes full dragon.

This book has a bizarre ending. I won't spoil it, but I believe that most people that came all this way with Kate and Curran are possibly going a bit "huh?" at the moment. I found it truly a great ending. It stands on the previous book a lot, so I would recommend reading it before embarking on this one (Hugh's book is also quite helpful), because if you don't remember it, you'll miss a lot. This was the last KD and was bittersweet.
Fast forward about 2 years from book 9. Kate has settled into motherhood. Conlan is a very advanced 13 month old (because of course he is). This opens up with the disappearance of a settlement of around 200 people. No signs of a struggle and the dogs where all shot with arrows. A mysterious book appears on Kate's doorstep.
Things happen and not only do they have to worry about Roland, but also a dragon intent on enslaving humanity. Major characters make a ...more
