I actually read the short story that is the base for this series, and actually it is a lot a like this first book. The difference is that in the S"S the side story with the killing was shorter and a lot less complicated (there it was that a rival clan tried to take them down because of the right that they support) and the whole relationship moved faster and the "ILU" just jumped there while in the series they are still now sure how they feel towards each other, and we got explanations about the ...more

Not sure how I feel about this book just yet. It was interesting for sure, but at times I felt lost. I hate being tossed in a world without some sort of life raft. At the beginning with Rule he is talking about a Rho, and other terms and I had no idea what on earth he meant. Also sometimes Were's would be referred to as Wolves, other times as 'with the blood' and other times as Lupi or the plural of Lupi. I wished the author had just chosen one term.
