It felt like I had been waiting forever for this book. Vlad Tepesh is the sort of character you crave to know more about. He does not disappoint. He does not become sappy or act in ways that would make me wonder what was wrong with him, but he's himself, and that is more than enough.

Leila is... cool. She's not Cat, and there are no comparisons anywhere. The plot is too fast paced for 'unreasonable' angst to get in the way. So far, Leila seems to be perfect for Vlad and you can just tell that th ...more

3.5 Stars I enjoyed this book and I like Vlad as a character from the Cat & Bones series. Leila is a circus perform after a childhood accident left her a human electric eel with psychic powers - she's a good character and I see the potential for her to be strong enough to challenge Vlad as we see more of her - he doens't need a push over and that would justbe boring.

I have to say that I'm a little tired of the "he kidnapped me, but didn't actually hurt me, and he's way sexy...so he must be a go ...more

3.5 stars, I think. I enjoyed the first two-thirds of this book more than the last, but unfortunately the ending is always what you tend to take away with you after reading. The confrontation with the villain was just ho-hum to me. I more enjoyed the initial meeting between Leila and Vlad, the challenge of Maximus, and the intrigue involved with her powers. The very end provided a nice setup for the sequel.
