I may have been able to enjoy this book if Ward hasn't been building up Tohr's grief for about 7 books, and a good portion of this one. And also for the fact that the title, especially the "reborn" part, had me hoping, that somehow, his dead wife was coming back. By the time I realised, that that was not going to happen, I felt (I know it's silly) betrayed. Let me first say I love J.R Ward and would read anything she writes. Now with that out of the way this was probably one of my least favorites of the series but I sort of knew it would be. Their was just a little to much angst and things that Thor HAD to go through to get his HEA. I do understand that he HAD to go through all of this to be happy again and I was prepared for it I just really missed all the LOL moments that you usually get in Wards books. I really felt for Tohr throughout this book. The guy just couldn't seem to get a break. All he wanted to do was be faithful to his (dead) shellan but in doing that he was slowly giving her something that was worth than the death she already had.
I still, after finishing the book, am not sure about No'One/Autumn. I like her but never felt any connection to her. That's not to say I did not like them together, I'm just indifferent to it. I was glad when Tohr gave her a new real name since she did not want to be called by the previous name he knew her by.
The last scenes were some of my favorites. From Tohr finally clicking and figuring out that act of sex was not him moving on, to the Fade ceremony and consequent reactions. Autumn's issue didn't really click for me until I read it, then it made perfect sense.
Lassiter is one of my favorite side characters and we got plenty of him and it just made me want more. I was glad when he showed up with dinner at the end.
The background stories were just that for me. While I don't like any at the moment, I found the BoB interesting. I actually like Xcor more than Throe but want to get to know all of them better. The complications of anything between Xcor and Layla adds another dimension to the battle between this group and the brotherhood.
John and Xhex. The drama between them just wasn't needed for me. I understood the parallels that were being drawn but didn't need them to add to the drama of Tohr's stroy. I was glad when it came to some kind of ending but feel like it may keep coming up.
Quinn and Blay. This is the real reason I read this book. I want to read the next one and felt I would be too lost missing the two books before it.

Started off a bit frustrating and seemed a bit slow and then went out with a bang. Pretty good all around.

Why does it take him so long to realize he had to let Wellsie go??? Even after being told directly, he just blows it off.

The Fade ceremony frankly pissed me the frak off. I don't know about you, but if someone I loved was stuck in purgatory my first thought would have been, 'Oh, mayhap we should give them a proper funeral'. Like, come ON!

The majority of this book rankled me. I love Lassiter though. All these tortured bullcrap characters though... Why do they never just say what's on their minds? I just don't get it. SPIT IT OUT! Frak.

Here's hoping the next one will be better. I did like how characters I love were revisted. I did NOT like the willingness of Xhex to leave JM so easily. To me, you don't just run off and leave the person you allegedly love with all your heart because one aspect of your life isn't sparkly unicorn excrement. I really hoped for an easier time for JM as I love his character and think he's a good guy. Xhex frankly pisses me off much of the time.

Tohr pisses me off. No'One pissed me off but I could also understand her martyr complex (having been raised Catholic) so I got the character. JM pissed me off because I wanted him to stand up and say, 'Enough of this bullshit. Treat me like a human.' Layla pisses me off (really? You're going to fall in love with one of the B.O.B's? And take Quinn's kid down that spirally path to hell with you? He screws prostitutes on the regular. Yuck.)

Basically, this book was one bunch of piss off for me. That said, I'm keeping it at four stars because while the characters pissed me off, it was well written. They frustrated me like only a real, living person could and I've got to tip my hat to Ward at being able to write such a believable asswipe; ones that made me want to reach through the pages and slap him (or her), repeatedly. ...more

I just wasn't expecting Thor to come back into this series, and if he did; he wouldn't be thrown into a romance with someone who was just as f%*ked up as he was.

Not that this series is dull or anything, but I have to take an extended break in-between books. Just about every plot has me in tears or in an absolute rage.

I'm a bit disappointed that No'One and Wellsie apparently aren't two halves of the same soul. I was kinda hoping that Ward would have gone in that direction here, and I think it would have made for an awesome story. I'm reserving judgement for now, and may have to even for awhile after I finish reading this. I just don't like that Tohrment was a bonded male, and can essentially find love again a mere two years later. Maybe two years would be fine if these were humans, but these are characters th ...more

I finished this back in April, but never got back on here to write a review and my memory being what it is, I couldn't do it justice now.
