I had heard so much about Kresley Cole about how amazing her books were but I never planned on reading as paranormal romance was not my favourite genre. However I picked this book on a whim and I am glad I did.

I loved this book. I could not put it down. I went to sleep reading it, woke up and started to read again.The book was short and sweet and made me want more. The narration was good and characters well thought. I liked all of of them. The heroine was funny and lovable and Worth just need t ...more

This little novella was incredibly hot! My Kindle keeps recommending Kresley Cole to me, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to read about Valkyries - I had a picture in my head of husky girls with horned helmets, lol! - but it turns out they are hot, kick-ass modern women who have just been around a very long time and know a few tricks ;)

The cover made me think this story was set much further back in time, to the era when vampire Nikolai was first a warrior, so I kept being surprised every time somet ...more

Apparently, I'm like a decade late to the IAD series. I liked the mix of vampires and valkyries. It's different and I'm a sucker for immortal on immortal lovin'. Too bad there really wasn't a reveal of what these creatures lives are really like. For the first few chapters I had no clue what time period we were in. Myst is locked in a dungeon, yet Nikolai is using guns in battle so I figured 1700s, but then it said he was like a 300 year old vampire turned in the 1700s and clues are given that we Apparently, I'm like a decade late to the IAD series. I get the whole species vs species thing, but why do valkyries hate vampires? Because they drink blood doesn't seem like a good reason. Because they are murderous killers? Well, so is everyone else it seems except those orgy lovin' nymphs.

I didn't mind Myst being the femme fatale of the valkyries. It reminded me a little Black Widow's character in the MCU. The sex between Myst and Nikolai was decent.....except for that pesky chain business. Consent was a thing before Me Too and I just couldn't see the sexy in the gray area this story played in. When he threatened to remove all her memories of her family and other men I almost threw up. I am so over the guys being jealous of women's previous partners and the blatant, oh she's two thousand years old, but only had three partners screamed "she really old, but not a slut so you can root for her readers".* I mean, most humans with our short life spans have more than three lovers. Or perhaps I was sluttier than I thought.

There was not really a plot happening then this dude Ivo from the beginning of the story, who I had totally forgotten about, shows up and of course Myst gets captured and then everything gets resolved in like four paragraphs.

There was a lot to dislike about this book, but the sex scenes were decent, I liked the writing, and thousands of devoted readers have to know something, right? Giving it another chance for the wide open world of creatures and hope there's more plot to future books.

*I am a total hypocrite because when I created Charouth she was a thousands of years old angel who'd never even been kissed before she met Azazel. ...more

wow even reading it now after having read all the others in the series this is still a great book... though it left me wishing they had gotten a full length story b/c they were wicked out together!
