I liked Tricks in the first book. She was interesting. She had lived with Dragos group (demesne) for over 200 years after she fled her murdering uncle (who was killed in book 1). With the uncle now deceased, she is the heir to the dark fae throne. Tricks is now known as Niniane and there is someone who wants her dead. Enter Tiago (a thunderbird is his other form) a Wyr soldier to function as her bodyguard and hunt down the one(s) who want her gone.

Loved Tiago, had a love/dislike relationship with Tricks/Niniane.

Tiago is alpha to the core with his badass, don't give a care about nothing attitude. Well, until you bring in a woman is the total opposite of his "type", and now he is an alpha badass, who has a don't give a care attitude about everything unless it has to do her(well, and his friends).

On the whole Storm’s heart can be read as a stand-alone story but chains of events and characters presented in the earlier novel does add to the overall enjoyment.

The Storm’s Heart storyline opens just after the events of Dragon Bound left off. Niniane, for all of her 200 years of age, has little experience of dark fea politics. She lived a sheltered and protected life in the company of the Wyr after a particularly tragedy in her early years. During her sejour, she was received as family and tau On the whole Storm’s heart can be read as a stand-alone story but chains of events and characters presented in the earlier novel does add to the overall enjoyment.

The Storm’s Heart storyline opens just after the events of Dragon Bound left off. Niniane, for all of her 200 years of age, has little experience of dark fea politics. She lived a sheltered and protected life in the company of the Wyr after a particularly tragedy in her early years. During her sejour, she was received as family and taught every trick in the book to defend herself (where she was renamed affectionately Tricks). Niniane has now revealed herself to be the heir of the Dark Fey after her uncle’s demise. She is now en route toward Adriyel. She is not without resources, having served a a public relation for the Wyr to Other kin and the human population.

The plot revolves around assassination attempts and who gets control of the dark fea throne, pulling Tiago as a reluctant protector for Tricks. Niniane and Tiago’s burgeoning relationship has plenty of new obstacles to overcome – not least Tiago’s alpha tendencies to violence and possessiveness, unfamiliar enemy territory and backstabbing friends. This sexy relationship drama is combined with Niniane trying to reach out to her people and getting acceptance for her progressive choices, politically and well and emotionally, being enamored of Tiago is seen as a potential power play by the Wyr demesne. We are also introduced to another Elder race with Tricks’s meetings with the Dark Fae delegation and the Councillor of the Elder tribunal, the Vampyre Carling, and her traveling to the Other land.

Whoever exciting this story is, I found myself wondering what was happening to everyone at Cuelebre Enterprises, but Rune and Aryal make great supporting characters and Rune’s story is coming up next.
From seedy motels to luxurious mansions, there is no shortage of danger in Elder race’s dark world which shouldn't fail to delight dragon/griffon fiction fans.

I don't know how to review this book. I mean...yeah, don't know how to do it.

I just keep staring at the picture of the cover and one question remains --> why cut off Tiago's head?? I mean, yeah, it's "that" kind of book, but still... And to add insult to injury, the library edition I have has the library barcode placed smack dab on Tiago's shirtless chest...which only leaves Tiago from the waist down and half a cityscape in the backgroun ...more

I really liked Dragon Bound so it was quite a surprise when I came upon STORM'S HEART and didn't like it and when I say I didn't like it, I mean it. I felt like this book was unreadable in so many ways. If you cannot connect with a book you just can't and that's what exactly happened in STORM'S HEART

The beginning was a pain to get through and I've had to skim quite a bit of it and wanted to at least to a certain point in the book hoping that I'd to get that point where the book started getting g ...more

I loved these characters. Tricks is sweet sassy and awesome then you have tall dark brooding stud. Yummy yum! Its turned out to be an enticing series so far.
