There was just too much going on in this book for me to completely enjoy it. Too many plot points, too many villains, too much description.

I will most like or am most likely in the minority on this view.

In my dreams this book would have contained the plot point of finding those responsible for Honor's abduction, while at the same time having she and Dmitri fall in love with one another. I would still expect Dmitri to notice the similarities b ...more

So, I finished reading Archangel’s Blade, which is Dmitri and Honor’s book. It’s going to be tough writing a review that is spoiler free as the premise of their love is rooted in the old.

So, let’s start by talking about Nalini. She has such a seductive style. Her words are lyrical and poetic, descriptive without being too wordy. It’s tough to explain unless you have read any of her previous novels. I, personally, have only read her Guild Hunter series, though I do own the first three Psy-Changel So, I finished reading Archangel’s Blade, which is Dmitri and Honor’s book. It’s going to be tough writing a review that is spoiler free as the premise of their love is rooted in the old.

So, let’s start by talking about Nalini. She has such a seductive style. Her words are lyrical and poetic, descriptive without being too wordy. It’s tough to explain unless you have read any of her previous novels. I, personally, have only read her Guild Hunter series, though I do own the first three Psy-Changeling. I tried reading those, but I just wasn’t in the right zone for them. Does that ever happen to you? Even though you know you will like something, you just can’t get interested in it? Sigh. I hope it’s not just me. Usually this happens to me if I read the same genre for a while. The cure is generally simple–switch genre’s. This is about when I read some Romantic Suspense, or Contemporary Romance, or if I am really in a funk, I’ll bust out Eve and Roarke favorites–I own them all (Yes, seriously, in multiple formats–crazy? nah)

I was talking about Nalini though. In the Guild Hunter novels, Dmitri is the leader of Raphael’s Seven, and second in command to Raphael. He is a 1000 years old vampire. His talents vary and are many, but one of the ones he uses the most is his scent lure. He torments Elena with this, as she was hunter-born and is more susceptible to it. He wraps his women in dark chocolate, champagne and lust. ::pants:: He is lethal with a blade. It was certainly interesting being inside Dmitri :snickers: In his head, it was cool to be in his mind :gutters: One of the things I wanted to see more of, was Dmitri’s dominating ways, we get a little bit via past exploits, but nothing really with honor, though I can understand why, in a way. Still, one of the more dark aspects of Dmitri is his cloak of alpha male with the whips and chocolate, with women begging him to have his wicked way with them. I wanted more wickedness…

One of the most fascinating aspects of the Guild Hunter Series is that it is so bloody violent. Nalini doesn’t pull any punches and she stays true to the characters inner demons, be them Angel or Vampire.

I look forward to reading more about the Seven. I wonder who will be next :rubs hands: will it be bluebell? aka Illium the Blue Angel. Will it be Venom, who is intriguing and scary. Or will it be Aodhan, whom we met very briefly, but obviously has major issues. My vote is for Venom, and possibly have his heroine as Sorrow, but only Nalini knows for sure :P

I will say that I’m surprised with how far, and how honest Illium us about his feelings for Elena, and I wonder how Raphael allows it to continue.

Back to Dmitri’s book. I really felt pain for Dmitri’s past. You get a sense in the other Guild books, but knowing what he endured, and what he lost, it just broke my heart. It made me love Dmitri.

I really liked Honor, and again, tormented past. She has never had it easy, bouncing from foster families, and then tortured for 2 months at the hands of vampires. I’m happy that Dmitri was able to help her live again, and find vengeance against those who hurt her.

It is a solid addition to the Guild Hunter series, and it helps give Dmitri another dimension.

Grade: B+ for the way the book is written, though I am not the biggest fan of the plot device used for the romance. ...more

I love this book! Its your typical bad ass vampire/angel lots of yummy sex scenes.. nalani singh sure knows how to write a great paranormal book! While i miss Elena and Rapheal as main characters, it was great to see a different side to dimitri. I would recommend this whole series to anyone who enjoys a steamy urban fantasy novel....

It was nice to revisit this world of the Archangels - like getting together with friends. It was a good story - it was good to get backstory on Dmitri and I enjoyed Honor. But I admit I enjoyed some of the peripheral characters (and character mentions!) more - like ASHWINI!!!! JANVIER!!! I cannot wait to read more of their story and I was quite pleased with the mentions of them in this book. There novella Angel's Pawn is one that I do frequently revisit . Sorrow and Venom were also quite interes ...more

Oh Dmitri...what to say...he is such a bad ass! But that he is so tortured...we've seen bits and pieces of his history in previous stories, but this one was all about him! Even though I figured out the bulk of the history part, it still unfolded in a wonderful way. Honor is a good fit for someone like Dmitri...I like that even though she's attracted to him, she won't be steam rolled by him either! And again, even though the big reveal at the end wasn't a surprise, I was blown away by the pure em ...more
