It is so fun to be immersed in J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood world. All those extra “H’s,” characters whose names begin with X, Q, and Z (great for Alphabet book challenges!), words like mayhap and verily, leather and shitkickers, and not to mention her Wardisms, that special vocabulary she uses throughout her series.

I’m not a rabid fan. (Not that there is anything wrong with that). I don’t have perfect recall of all the previous books. I didn’t run out and get this book upon its release

I’m not a rabid fan. (Not that there is anything wrong with that). I don’t have perfect recall of all the previous books. I didn’t run out and get this book upon its release. I waited. In a way, that was a good thing. I let the hype run its course and I was able to read the book leisurely.

Lover Unleashed focuses on Manny and Payne. Manny is a human doctor that appeared in an earlier book. Jane calls him in to operate on and heal Payne. Payne is the daughter of the Scribe Virgin, twin sister to V. I enjoyed Manny and Payne’s story. I loved how Manny was the perfect gentleman. “Glowy” Payne was quite cool. Their love is not without obstacles. Manny is human and must have his memory wiped.

I love the instant feelings of possession in this series. It never seems to be about love right away. It’s more of a statement – “Mine.” The love comes later, usually after much gut-wrenching soul searching or angst.

There were a few secondary stories going on in this book. V’s story which involved Butch as much as Jane was heartbreaking. V is so damaged and only pain and self-destructive behavior seems to bring him relief. I felt that V’s story eclipsed Manny and Payne’s story because it was so compelling.
I grew weary of Qhuinn’s story. He is given visions of his future but chooses to ignore his destiny and instead pine for another. For me, Qhuinn comes across as a petulant child, wanting what he can’t have. I hope that his character gets some closure in the next book.

New characters were introduced in this book and they were fierce. Xcor, Throe, Zypher and their group scared the crap out of me. I didn’t know what to make of them. I’m looking forward to seeing what the author plans for them in future books.

Yet another story line revolves around Detective Jose de la Cruz and his partner Veck and their hunt for a serial killer. The killer’s M.O. seems to come out of a deranged episode of Criminal Minds. Something’s up with Veck. Again, something to look for in the next book.

Thank goodness our exposure to the Lessers was limited in this book.

Can’t wait for the next book Lover Reborn expected publication March 27, 2012

Warning: This book will take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride! Read it with a box of kleenex handy and be prepared to have your heart broken! IT'S THAT AMAZING!

This was a highly anticipated release, and as always, J.R. Ward didn't disappoint me. This book was amazing! From the beginning I felt drawn in to the story and found myself not wanting to put it down (even though I had to because of mundane things like, ohhh say, work).

The Warden kicked a** with another outstanding story of the Brothers! Well, sister in this case. They're as bad a** as always & Vishous takes the lead. Finding his twin sister Payne the medical help she needs for her injury is not what V planned on while meeting Payne for the first time. When it comes to books as popular as this one, there is no need to do a regular review. Everyone and their mother has posted reviews on it, and if you are a fan of this series you are going to read this book no matter what anyone says. If you haven’t read the series yet, you wouldn’t start with this one any way. So, I am going to talk why I love this series and why you should try it!

I had to re-read Lover Mine so I could pay this book the attention I thought it deserved and at the end it didn't matter.
This was a BIG book and that's because there was soooo much going on!
3 main stories: Payne and Manny, V and Jane, and Quinn and Blay.

Payne and Manny... meh!, their story was not that interesting, and the author seems to thinks so too because the book wasn't about them and them alone.
V and Jane.. Jane is really nice and I love V, or I did... after reading this book I just think ...more
