Wow! Dragons are so hot!

What a nice break from reality.

Dragon Bound starts off with a theft from the dragon’s hoard. A brazen act accompanied by a small note of apology scrawled on the back of a receipt. Our dragon, the illustrious Dragos Cuelebre is angry but intrigued. Who is this thief? Suddenly, his existence is no longer boring. He must find the thief.

I’m beginning to understand why people love books about dragons. I loved the characterization of the dragon and his entourage 4 -4.5 stars...

Our dragon, the illustrious Dragos Cuelebre is angry but intrigued. Who is this thief? Suddenly, his existence is no longer boring. He must find the thief.

I’m beginning to understand why people love books about dragons. I loved the characterization of the dragon and his entourage. Not so hard to believe that he would be a successful businessman amassing wealth.

Dragos is your typical Alpha male. His roar can cause serious property damage. Dragos has some interesting powers. I loved how he found Pia through an erotically charged dream. Every description, every movement Dragos makes exudes sensuality.

Pia, our heroine, kept me guessing as to what she was. Her getting through locks was a very useful skill. I liked the fact that she wasn’t a damsel in distress. Pia had some great fight moves, too. I liked the fact that she took advantage of her situation, spreading Drago’s wealth to the local food banks. Pia says exactly what’s on her mind, often forgetting that all important brain filter. She is also introspective, and internalizes problems rather than communicating.

Dragos is fascinated by Pia. He is no longer bored by his existence. The sexual tension between these two ranked very high on the steamy meter. The love scenes were well done. I think I may have needed a fan…

There was some hilarious dialogue between Pia and Dragos. One memorable line:

“So is that your long, scaly reptilian tail or are you just happy to see me?”

Tricks, the Cuelebre Enterprises spokesperson and heir to the Dark Fae court made an excellent friend for Pia. One of my favorite scenes involved Pia and Tricks having a drunken dinner and Pia taking notes on napkins. Tricks is hilarious, especially when she asserts herself.

I’m looking forward to reading more about Tricks in the next book, Storm’s Heart.

You know what the problem is when a book gets a lot of hype? Then it's very hard for it to live up to the larger than life expectations!

This is a good, solid paranormal romance but I'm not sure if my feelings toward this book are from the expectations or that it was just ok. Don't get me wrong, I do like the story, I like the world, and I LOVE DRAGOS .

Yeah, let's talk about Dragos. He's basically head honcho, all power, charisma, and GC sex appeal. And he's also a dragon! And what a smoking h ...more

Very good PNR.
I don't have much time lately and I don't have much patience. I'm finding it hard to really get into a book and stay with it, just one of those phases. But this one, unexpectedly might I add, did the job.
Good plot, good characters, the right amount of cheesiness (not too much) and a dragon with a very long tail. ...more

A couple people recommended this book to me and I'm glad I took them up on it and read it. Pia was a great heroine. She was smart and resourceful. Don't let the cheesy cover throw you off, this is a fun story that will leave you wanting more.

What I enjoyed:
* Pia. She made one stupid mistake before the book started and it snowballs into craziness. I love that she stood up to Dragos, his sentinels and Urien.

Lately I’ve been trying to make time for the highly recommended books on my to-read shelf. The ones I bought on a friend’s recommendation and then got so busy with new review books that I didn’t sit down and, you know, read them.

The list of people who recommended Dragon Bound to me is long. I first purchased it after Kelly from Reading the Paranormal gave it her “you must, you must” push to me. Then associate VBC reviewer Candace said the mo This review was originally posted at Vampire Book Club.

Then associate VBC reviewer Candace said the most recent book had the hottest sex scene she’d ever read. I moved it to the front of the line. Really. My mom devoured the series and looked aghast when I told her I still had then on my Kindle waiting to be read.

Shame. On. Me.

Seriously.

Y’all were right. This is the kind of book I love and I’m not sure anyone can stop me from reading the whole series in rapid succession. I sure as hell loaded up the Kindle with the remaining books when I finished Dragon Bound.

The writing is spry and witty. Even when characters are in peril, there’s the equivalent of a wry smile in the prose. It’s enchanting. The characters are well-developed and refuse to fall into obvious romance tropes. This may be what impressed me most about Dragon Bound.

Here you have characters in the more common problem of we need to stay together to stay safe and the hero is the most alpha of alphas. Drogos only gives orders. Pia knows how to make him say please. His sentinels are floored. However, every time the plot starts to take a traditional course, Thea Harrison lets us get far enough to think she’d actually have her characters do the obvious then flips it on it’s head. Pia is smarter than your average paranormal romance heroine. Drogos is more adaptable than most alpha males, while maintaining the strength and masculinity that attracts us to him.

With such strong main characters it’s not really surprising the sex in Dragon Bound is epic. And plentiful. While it never it used just for sex’s sake, the romantic interludes draw these two closer and force them to drop barriers—magical and otherwise.

Paranormal romance that turns tropes on their heads? Hell yes. Sign me up for more.

This one totally lived up to the hype. I was worried that I was coming to the party a little late. I had heard such great things and luckily it lived up to all of them. I was expecting a wonderful hero and heroine and I certainly got them. Much has been said about Dragos and he is a true alpha hero, not just a bully/jerk that so often passes for "alpha" in romance. This was a surprising read. I thought this would be the same old romancy type of book. It has a solid plot with twists. I really enjoyed the charachters. There were plenty of supporting characters, as well. (view spoiler) that really had me - which was nice. First off, I'm not a huge PNR fan, and I have very rarely read more than book 1 of a PNR series, but I am looking forward to continuing this one. This book definitely surprised me with an actual story beyond the romance, the banter between the two main characters got silly at points, but always entertaining, and I enjoyed a lot of the minor characters enough to want to read a book about them - Hello Rune! I liked the character. She challenged the Dragon which constantly made me smile throughout the book. There was a lot of action and it left me wondering what would happen next.
