This book really needs to be read concurrently with Kiss of a Demon King because the action is taking place concurrently, and you need both stories to make sense of the resolution of the conflict. I loved that, though, because it added an extra dimension to the books. I loved the extra element of tenderness here--the unrequited love that has spanned several books is finally getting its story here.

This was my very first Kresley Cole book to read and although it is the 5th in the series the book is easily a stand-alone. The book does mention characters from the past but they don't necessarily take a huge role in this one nor do their appearances spoil the other books for the reader.
This book is about a rage demon who needs to produce the "Vessel" to get his brother's kingdom back. What he doesn't realize is that the Vessel is essentially his soul mate and a Valkyrie. I was so involved in t ...more
