This review was originally posted at Vampire Book Club.

Can someone please tell me why I didn’t start this series sooner? As a fan of the sexy/dangerous mixture of Nalini Singh’s Guild Hunter series, I should have known she’d offer a one, two punch in a straightforward paranormal romance.

Slave to Sensation has a mental game of cat and mouse, shifters who are all about “skin privileges” and completely enthralling sex scenes. Really, Slave to Sensation in one word is enthralling.

The romance is head

I was really looking forward to this series after reading such great reviews. The book focuses on an interesting premise; there are 2 interesting types of characters, the "Psy" - who are taught from an early age to suppress their emotions. I had been hearing a lot about this series. I read the description and my first reaction was that the premise sounded kind of dumb. Especially since I am more of an urban fantasy fan as opposed to the paranormal romance. So I didn't read it. But I still kept hearing people talk about it and finally I decided to pick it up.

That's when I realized I had forgotten the cardinal rule of reading, which is that a good storyteller can make anything good. When I started reading, I was immediately hooked

This one has been on my TBR for such a long time ... I have no idea what I was waiting for! I thought that the world was really interesting and I am excited to see what the repercussions are from the big finish. I guessed who the bad guy was early on which was kind of a bummer but overall, I was impressed. The dynamics between the different groups seem so volatile; I will definitely be picking up book 2 to see how things progress.
