This was a fantastic read on my part. Briggs thought of a very interesting perspective. I loved the idea of a walker. An entire magic that has been unexplored or simply overlooked. I would like to say that I would like more Native American fiction, and venturing into even more myths and legends.
I like how Mercy takes no crap from anyone, and her level of sneakiness. For some reason I just keep coming back to this series every few years. I've read this book three times now, and it looks like I ju ...more

Shelves: urban-fantasy

I love the Mercy Thompson series/world, as much if not more, than the Anita Blake novels. I definately recommend these books to any fan of urban fantasy. Patricia Briggs is a great author. She really draws you into the book. There is plenty of action, a touch of romance (but not too much) and fully flushed out characters.

This book dwells mostly on the werewolves in Mercy's life. The werewolves have a well defined social order, although I think I enjoyed Laurell K. Hamilton's wolves a bit better. ...more

First let me start out by saying that I really liked how this book didn't have any swearing and no sex! I'm not a prude and don't mind swearing and sex scenes but this was just refreshing.
This book kept my attention from the first page and I look forward to reading more of Mercy's adventures. I like how strong she was and how she kept a level head when she was in some dangerous situations. I am hoping that I will get to read about more her life when she lived with the pack. ...more
