"Really starting to get disgusted with this. Halfway through and no practical information I can use so far. If all the lengthy overexplanations of the Wiccan Rede were left out, it would be a flimsy pamphlet. If it were titled "The Ethics of Shielding for Wiccans" I would NOT have bought it." G.K. Chesterton
“Fairy tales do not tell children the dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed.”
G.K. Chesterton

Shirley Jackson
“All I could think of when I got a look at the place from the outside was what fun it would be to stand out there and watch it burn down.”
Shirley Jackson, The Haunting of Hill House

André Gide
“We should enjoy this summer, flower by flower, as if it were to be the last one we’ll see.”
André Gide

“If you want to test cosmetics, why do it on some poor animal who hasn't done anything? They should use prisoners who have been convicted of murder or rape instead. So, rather than seeing if perfume irritates a bunny rabbit's eyes, they should throw it in Charles Manson's eyes and ask him if it hurts.”
Ellen DeGeneres, My Point... And I Do Have One

Allan Bloom
“The humanities are like the great old Paris Flea Market where, amidst masses of junk, people with a good eye found cast away treasures...They are like a refugee camp where all the geniuses driven out of their jobs and countries by unfriendly regimes are idling.”
Allan Bloom, The Closing of the American Mind
