Shelves: fantasy, ass-kicking-women, uf, shapeshifters

I had heard a lot of recommendations for this series, and I was worried that I would be disappointed by my high expectations. Happily, I wasn't. It's a fun, fast read with characters I was happy to follow. The plot... eh. It was a little convoluted, and when the big reveal happened, I actually had to go back and re-read those few pages, because my reaction was "...what?" Maybe a touch anti-climactic. I'm not sure where to begin with this review. Maybe I was expecting too much from the book since there were so many great reviews and lots of glowing recommendations, but the book just didn't make me want to sing its praises. I didn't hate it, I didn't love it. Mercy is a shape shifter - she can easily turn herself into a coyote at will. She was raised by a pack of werewolves who seem to keep her at arms' length (at least all the women do). Mercy is a generous person, wanting to help others and ...more
