Grade: B

Rachel finally grows up. Her and Trent finally have a "moment". I actually like Al. The demon world is pretty darn cool, so was Dali's restaurant and making a new selection for the Juke Box. Newt made me laugh, Ivy finally realizes her and Rachel are a No Go. Jenks gets put out to STUD, BIS is the most awesome little gargoyle EVER {I want a gargoyle!} The coven sucks, I don't really care about Pierce, and where he might be right now at the end of Pale Demon. Rachel's road trip to hell (or the ever-after) is thrilling, funny, touching and irritating. The story begins a bit slowly, and gains momentum, until you just can't put it down.

Trent's tight-lipped secretiveness was the most irritating aspect, and it made me want to reach in the book and shake him! However, it was also fascinating to learn more about him, and see him up close and personal throughout the story. I have like Kim Harrison's Hallows series since I started reading it, and Pale Demon doesn't disappoint.
It is one of my favorites of the series, I enjoyed the interaction between Rachel and Trent.
Even the chemistry between Al and Rachel was very interesting. There were definitely parts that I thought were kinda of boring but they had their reason for being part of the book.
I get the feeling that Kim Harrison is building for something major and I for one can't wait. I don't know how many books ...more

Wow. I really think I liked this one best!

It was a perfect blend of adventure, kick assness, romance, danger, posibilities, vunerability, and change. I can not wait for the next book. I loved every charicter, fleshing of the demon world, maturation of charicters, and relationships! Just wow!

3.5 stars, really. The first half was dull and too full of emotional angst. I hate angst in UF. The second half was much better- but still- it annoyed me to have waited over a year for this book which had the perfect set up for certain things to happen- yet nothing did. I have to question some of the choices some of the characters made- they seemed unwise and out of character. I guess I'm just annoyed that the 9th(!) book a series would be a set-up book rather than one that starts to give closur ...more

Loved it loved it loved it. I have always been a fan of this series but this book is by far my favorite!

I feel like everyone is growing up!!! Which is definitely a big improvement. And even with all the questions I have left at the end of this book, I'm not disappointed at all. I'm just excited at the direction this series is taking!

*spoilers*

Both al and trent in the same book makin out with Rache!!!! Awesomeness. Now we just need further development.... ;)

It started out slow but gaining momentum, by half way through I was hooked! It's always got to happen to Rachel. I absolutely loved it and I honestly wasn't sure I would. The last half of the book was the best writing from Kim...ever! Do we really have to wait a year for the next one? ...more
