This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. I was so looking forward for something new from CF. Her Ghostwalker series was amazing until the last 3 books. So when I heard a new series was coming out I couldn't wait to read it !!!!!

Sadly this book did let me down, or I should say the heroine Francesca, let the book down. I was trying to find something about her that I could like and sadly there was nothing. All this girl wanted to do was run when the going got tough. She had an excellent opportunity to shine when she confronted Stefano's m I was so looking forward for something new from CF. Her Ghostwalker series was amazing until the last 3 books. So when I heard a new series was coming out I couldn't wait to read it !!!!!

All this girl wanted to do was run when the going got tough. She had an excellent opportunity to shine when she confronted Stefano's mother but after one sentence she went into silent mode and stayed there!!!!.
Francesca was just too proud, she was in dire need of protection yet she had the attitude I-can-handle-anything, when clearly she was not!. A strong women knows when she needs help and asks for it!

So she gave her coat to a homeless women, does that make her a martyr, I think not!, yes she was pretty but that was it. There was no substance to her all she could do well was cook and dance.

Stefano....... oh my, now he is the kind of hero I like, possessive, demanding and ruthless. It was nice seeing him getting this hands dirty, but the ending just left me wanting as I expected more vengeance than a quick and easy death. I wanted more, yes I know I am blood thirsty..... but come on, Anthon should have gotten more than just a quick and easy death. I mean he didn't even understand why he was getting stabbed and he showed no remorse for his actions. His death should had had more meaning.

Now onto the plot. I wanted a little more detail as to how the Shadow Riders came about and their history. How did they get this gift. I was still lost in places as to how they ride a shadow. What was up with the mother?, here she is not wanting to have anything to do with her kids and then all of a sudden she is running for the Mother of the Year award????, What was up with the mother's transformation at the ending ?.

If female Shadow Riders are so rare and should be protected, why aren't the boys out looking for them?. I really didn't like the whole situation with Nicoletta, I don't like reading about rape in any form and I certainly don't like reading about it when it comes to children.

What for me is now off putting is that Nicoletta is going to be a mate to one of Stefano's brother's and I just don't like that kind of background for a heroine. Yes it is reality but we are in romaneland here, where we can choose our endings!.

I am looking forward to reading Emmanuelle's book.

I look forward to the next book in this series but I hope CF tweaks her next book a bit. This book was enjoyable as the hero and the secondary characters made it so. Will it be a keeper .....NO.

It's been awhile since I've read Christine Feehan. I never enjoyed her Carpathian stuff. I did like the Ghostwalkers in the beginning. But the blurb on this book intrigued me and overall - I enjoyed it. The concept of being a Shadowrider is cool. Stefano and Francesca. There was chemistry but there were also problems. I'm giving it four stars because I love the world building, and the characters... and look forward to reading some more stories in this series... I hovered over 3 but I'm always generous. In saying that... the old 'he' man, 'my way or the highway', beating of the chest, sort of scenario, is over the top in this book. Sex scenes galore, but I skipped those too. But if you love Christine's books, read away. ...more
