There's a reason Jordan L. Hawk is one of my favorite authors and this is juts another example of why. I don't like historical romances. To say I hate them would only be slightly too strong. They are definitely my least favorite sub-genre of romance. Yet I loved this book.

Like I've come to expect from Jordan's books, this is a story of love and passion intermingled with an excellent story that could stand on its own. There is plenty of action, excitement, danger and suspense. She's created unusu

Wonderful, scary paranormal romance with a historical setting. Neither Griffin or Whyborne were your typical "macho guys" which was a nice change. And I loved Christine! I'll be definitely buying the rest books in this series! ...more

I'm going back and forth between 4 and 5 stars for this one. I loved the slow build to the sweet romance, and the historical setting/museum job where the fun characters could all interact. It also had a cool mystery with lots of icky creatures and a bit of magic thrown in for fun. This is Lovecraft pastiche with gay sex added. It is also VERY suspiciously similar to Sarah Monette's The Bone Key The Necromantic Mysteries of Kyle Murchison Booth by Sarah Monette , except with a happier prognosis and room to move forward. Given all of that, it's very good. There are a few glaring grammatical mistakes and the love interest has three-color eyes that I don't believe in, but really that's not much error. It is quite predictable, too, but I enjoyed every predictable plot twist. I read for enjoyment, not befuddlement. I recommend it to lovers of urban fan ...more

4 stars - it took me a while to fall in love with these characters, but I got there by the end. Really fun read - Indiana Jones meets Sleepy Hollow with a fair amount of romance. Is it wrong of me to want a prequel starring the villain? Because I really really do.

This series will get better I can tell

This book was great. It took a little while to get going, but overall I really liked it. I know the series will get better as I read along.
