A definate King classic, the character and downfall of Jack Torrence is incredibly well written and the change in character from the loving troubled father into the psychotic killer is vastly more terrifying than the ghosts in the hotel. Far far better than the movie and lacking the ever quoted 'Here's Johnny' line (which is nothing but beneficial) this book is more disturbing than you anticipate and will stay in your mind for weeks afterwards, even with the 'happy' ending... ...more
