Just as great as I remember. I’m so thrilled my daughter is loving this series as much as I do.

I am so glad I re-read this. For some reason I was unfairly harsh with my rating and review the first time through. After going through the series and returning to the beginning I can really appreciate Clare's ability to keep the reader in suspense and how vividly she draws you in to the shadowhunter world.
Can barely handle the wait till the movie and the release of the final book in 2014!!! 2014?!?!? ...more

Shelves: angels

I found this book very entertianing. I know all the talk about how it's a rip-off of Harry Potter etc but it contains all the elements that I loved about Harry Potter so I'm happy.

The only realy peeve I have isn't directed at the book, but rather the author and the scores of other authors that decide to base their books on Nephilim just because angel/human hybrids sound cool.

Reading the various blogs, I had a choice to make between "Hunger Games" or "The mortal instruments" as the two most successful promising series to read. I loved the trilogy by Suzanne Collins and I confess not to have been so excited about "City of Bones." In my opinion, the ingredients are present but the sauce just to take forever to be ready.
