I've now read this one and the next two in the Tiffany Aching series, and I must say that I really like them. The characters are funny and quirky, and crazy things are taken very matter-of-factly. Also, I love to say, "Waily waily waily!" Soooo much.
In this novel we are introduced to the Feegles' terrible fear of marriage because after a night of drinking and fighting and stealing things, you would have to go home and do the Explaining. And you might have to face the Pursin' o' the Lips. Or even ...more

None of the other Tiffany books is as perfect as The Wee Free Men. I think if this was any other book, I would give in 5 stars, but in comparison to the first in the series, it's a 4. Me to dh: "Terry Pratchett must have had the most interesting mother/aunts. He really nails a certain type of woman."
I love practical, active women, so Tiffany and the other witches certainly work for me. And dh loves the humor and plot. A win all around.
