4.5* What a great story! I loved this book! Ewan was a wonderful hero and his treatment of and love for Mairin just made my heart melt. There were so many "awwww" moments in this book. Mairin was delightful with the way almost every thought in her head she spoke out loud. She was a strong woman and very protective. I loved her strength and her protectiveness with Crispen. She was such a sweet mother to him.

I had to abandon this book mainly because it was far too much like a standard romance novel, which I am not a big fan of. I need to like the characters for a romance to work and I simply didn't like these characters or how they treated each other. ...more

I wanted to tryout a Highlander book because they seem to be popular now and I am glad I did. I also Love Maya Banks so I thought I would start with this one but I just confirmed my suspicions that Historicals are just not for me.
