Starting off, this is the first Lori Foster book that I have read. There are more on my list to read, but I haven’t gotten there yet. That being said, I didn’t have a preconceived level for this book to live up to; having heard great things about it, I knew it was going to be up my alley.

So the book starts out in the age old ‘hero sweeps in and saves the damsel in distress.’ No matter how many times a read a book like this, they always make me want to read more and this one didn’t disappoint. Fo Starting off, this is the first Lori Foster book that I have read. There are more on my list to read, but I haven’t gotten there yet. That being said, I didn’t have a preconceived level for this book to live up to; having heard great things about it, I knew it was going to be up my alley.

So the book starts out in the age old ‘hero sweeps in and saves the damsel in distress.’ No matter how many times a read a book like this, they always make me want to read more and this one didn’t disappoint. For as battered and bruised as she was, Molly Alexander was still strong and determined to make her way out of the DiD position. Romance writer and survivor of a neglectful childhood, she is ‘fine’ no matter how torn up she feels on the inside.

Growing stronger and regaining independence throws Dare Macintosh for a loop. He is the quintessential Military guy with all the right connections to be a badass you never want to be on the wrong side of. He starts out by saving a friends sister and brings Molly back to the surface with him. When they first get back to the states, he is her only saving grace and takes care of her during the first stages of her recovery. As Molly finds comfort in Dare, she also finds an attraction that is well returned. Things between the two of them heat up and they fall.

Even with a whirlwind relationship in process, Dare needs to find the person responsible for kidnapping Molly away to Mexico. This is where the book plateaued for me; good thing it was really only the last 50 or so pages. From about the midway point of the book, there are two main people that stuck out to me that could turn out to be the bad guy. Once Dare talked to the first one, they seemed too surprised to really be the culprit. That only left the other person, the one that was so obsessed with making an appearance they would do anything – literally – to look good to the public. And viola, the person is brought to justice. Good lead up, but a fast finish.

I enjoyed reading this book and it would probably be one that I would reach for again in the future, but I could only give it 4 out of 5 stars. I like to read a book and walk away thinking about it and great one liners/ comebacks from it and this one just didn’t have it for me. I like to keep tract of the lines and make me go back and reread them because they were so great and this one didn’t have any for me. Maybe another round through would fix that, but it was a disappointment for me that way. I’m still looking forward to reading the next book in the Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series, Trace of Fever; I hope it will have more of a take away for me.

Great Story, There is an immediate attraction, but I loved how the relationship between the characters grew over time. Can't wait to read more of the series. I also love an alpha-male and Dare is all alpha. ...more
