Dangerous Hero General Reading Challenge 2012

I don't know if you noticed. Now the groups have an option for a group-wide challenge. At first I was going to use our Mega-Challenge for this. But then I decided, why not just have a general reading challenge, but with the Dangerous Hero theme.

So here it is....

Dangerous Hero General Reading Challenge 2012
Duration: January 1- December 31, 2012
Description: Challenge yourself to read as many dangerous hero themed books this year as you can. Set your own goal. Maybe 25, Maybe 50, Maybe 100. It's your own goal.

If you join the challenge, it will keep track of how many you read for you.

After I've finished the book how do I credit for the read in my challenge. I'm newly active on GR so please forgive my ignorance. I thought that I was to name one of my bookshelves for the challenge and put the books there as I finish them. I did that and I'm still showing zero books read. What did I do wrong?

Janet, go back to the sign up page, follow the link above. Click on update your entry. It should show what the name of your shelf is on there. You need to add the book to that shelf for it to count it towards your challenge.

Lady Danielle, that's what I did. I just verified that I entered the bookshelf name 'Dangerous Heroes' as the bookshelf for the challenge. I then went to my books and the book I read is listed in that bookshelf as being read with the date that I finished. It's still not giving me credit for having read the book for the challenge. I feel so stupid. :(

Let's try something else. Go back to that update your entry page and change the name of the shelf to something else, like Dangerous Hero Challenge. Click save, and then go to the book you've read and add it to that shelf and see if that helps. If not, we might have to have you go to the Goodreads Feedback group for assistance.

If I read a book that is loaned to me do I add it to my bookshelf to count towards my reading challenge? Even though I don't own the book?

I don't understand how the bookshelves work. I thought they were for listing books that I owned. But obviously, that won't work for the reading challenge. I'm confused.

For 2012 yearly challenges, any books you read during the year of 2012 count. It doesn't matter if you own them or not. You can create shelves for whatever you want. Some people create owned book shelves and wish-list, or even library borrowed books. That's entirely up to you how you want to set up your shelves. For the purposes of this challenge, you designate a specific shelf and when you finish a book, add it to that shelf, and it counts towards the challenge.

That's 70 , any subject, books. My personal challenge to myself to read 400, some have been novellas that only took me an hour to read, some graphic novels. I hope I can keep this up:-)

Are we counting re-reads or just new books? I constantly re-read books I have accummulated. I have already started my challenge but wasn't sure if I can add these dangerous heros in too.

You can count any book you read during the year of 2012, even if it is a reread. You would have to go back and add those books to your challenge shelf.

Hi Dani and welcome! Go to this link and sign up (http://www.goodreads.com/challenges/8...). You basically say how many books you want to read and create a shelf for them. When you finish the book, add it to the shelf you created. Did I answer your question?
