The first group of tales are about sacrificial love, and the last two about the unawareness and lack of sympathy selfish people have for other. Wilde writes with wit about the society he lived in and the judgement of others based on wealth and education rather than the true worth and those with a humble heart and contrite spirit.
The selfish giant is my favourite.
