I'm not a giant fan of the cyberpunk genre but I was a massive fan of Michael R. Fletcher's Beyond Redemption series so my hopes were pretty high for this book. Fletcher proved worthy of my trust as this ranked up there with Altered Carbon as one of the best cyberpunk books I've ever read. I'd actually rate this as one of the best dark sci-fi stories I've read in general!

The story was fast paced and engaging. New special investigation agent Griffin is thrown into the deep end on his first few fi

Done With Mirrors?

This Fletcher guy and his mirrors! Here we get a cyber-virtual near-future version, but a lot of this stuff is done with smoke and... mirrors. Or scans.. combat chassis. What's not to love?

Fletcher rewrote and re-edited (and renamed) his first novel, 88. Basically, he revamped his debut, and wow, what a ride.

Ghosts of Tomorrow is a treat for cyberpunk fans. It's fast-paced, filled with almost non-stop action, and offers a big cast made up of memorable characters. Fletcher's writing style is engaging and fun.

Fletcher's stories are gritty, grim and dark. Most of his characters are morally grey, not necessarily good, not bad, but always relatable. The story is told from the point of

Buddy Read in Weaponized Pineapples

Unique story, action packed, brutal and insane makes Ghosts of Tomorrow a 4 star read. This world is something really crazy makes me wonder what Michael Fletcher's mind is like. Does it keep him awake at night? I can tell you somethings crept into my dreams and kept me awake.

Now I'm done, here's to a good nights sleep!

In this future, technology allows the human brain to be scanned and then stored or transferred to almost anything....an assassin chassis, pilot ship...you get the picture. Two primary POVs, a young agent of The North American Trade Union whose first assignment is tracking down an illegal creche. The second POV is a young autistic girl who has been captured by one of these illegal organizations. Add in some concepts of AI and sentience and you have an entertaining story that has multiple layers.

Mini-Review:

4.5 Stars for Narration by Rosa B. Watkinson (1st time I've heard her narration & it's pretty good!)
4 Stars for Concepts
3 Stars for Characters
4 Stars for Overall Pacing

An interesting book about uploading consciousness to computers. The author did a nice job of establishing a bare bones vision of the world and dive into the deep end of what it would be like to be a digital entity.

If you're on a computer, are you still human? Are you alive?

I wanted more about all of the featured char

While I prefer fantasy over science fiction, Fletcher does a great job of developing complex characters in an all too realistic future.
