What Members Thought

I finally finished listening to this book on tape...I could barely listen to it. But I can check it off my short list of books I started, but never finished. Boring beyond belief and should've been half as long.
I do NOT understand why this is considered to be a modern classic. I found it mildly amusing, but not as entertaining as many others found it. I don't appreciate dark humor, so that was a major part of my dislike for the book. And I didn't like any of the many characters in the book and ...more

I'm not actually going to finish it. I'm about halfway through (Chapter 21), and I wanted to stick it out, because there are things I like about the book. But I'm enjoying it less and less, and I don't think it's going to redeem itself.

This is one of the few books that is a miss for Adam's recommendations to me. I'm told the reason is because I lack a sense of humor. It is true that I did not find this book funny (apparently it is), and I just plain didn't get a lot of it. And in the end, that didn't really bother me. I never learned to like Yossarian, so his fate--whether good or ill--was not of any importance to me.
