From my blog: https://bookgirl1987thoughts.wordpres...

It's always a pleasant surprise when I pick up a book I've known about for years, truly not expecting much, and find that it is REALLY DAMN GOOD! This was my reading experience with Stephen Chbosky's "The Perks of Being a Wallflower." This book was published in 1999 (I was in middle school then!) and I finished it a few nights ago. It was kinda amazing, and I'll tell you why...

The main character Charlie is a real treasure, in my opinion. If y

omg, I'm so mad I didn't write a review for this after I read it. I was probably intimidated by all the five star reviews and didn't want people to think I was an asshole.

All I really remember is I didn't like the protagonist, and I was expecting to find him relatable so I was really disappointed. I'm lowkey tempted to reread it, but I also remember finding it pretty boring so I'm probably not going to bother with that.

I don't even know why I gave it three stars.

This was formerly a 3 star read and it turned into a 5 star. I think it was that I had to experience enough and grow up enough to understand the experience of reading this.

Charlie is a freshmen in high school and he spends his first year off with a rocky start. His closest friend unalived himself. He slowly gets more friends and tries to participate in school events and hangs out outside of school. So much happens. So much is so relatable and endearing because you as a reader have been in a mom

Also, 4 1/2 Sterne ;)

Read as a Catcher lite - same story line but reworked - paler and more modern version. Good but once one tasted of the true waters, it rings a little weak.
