i didn't hate this book but i was definitely disappointed.
it's pretty clear to me by the way that this is written that oscar wilde is first and foremost a playwright and this is his first novel. this book is heavy on the exposition (see chapter 11) and randomly throughout the book which killed the pacing of the book. i wish wilde had better integrated his discussion on morality into the story rather than relying on telling not showing us all of the time.
