Hello all! Starting up the monthly discussions for January 2018 book-of-the-month suggestions. This discussion is for the CLASSICS CATEGORY.

As a reminder, books that qualify for this category must have a publication date 1969 and before. If the book you wish to nominate was published in 1970 or after, please make your suggestion on the Modern Classics/Popular Reads thread.

Personally, I was thinking the whole series (but maybe that's too much). All 7 come in one book for cheap.

We could just do the first one if that is more doable! :)

Gotcha! I don't have a preference, but I'll be honest I'd be more likely to get through one book (200ish pages) vs. all 7. See whatever else thinks?

Yes, I completely understand! The total pages for all 7 is 1,457.
Game of Thrones (which is #1 right now on December's poll) is 900 pages. So, it's not too far off. But, it is still quite a bit. I'll wait to see others' opinions on how to do a series like that - we could just do 3 stories (either by published date or chronological story)

The FIRST book chronologically in the series is actually The Magician's Nephew.

Innastholiel has made excellent nominations! I'd like very much to read The Odyssey, so I'll second it! But it has been nominated before, and from my observation of previous votes, books which are too much of a classic like this tend not to win. However, let's try again.

All Quiet on the Western Front is great!! Impossible not to second!

I think you posted this in the wrong thread because Never Let Me Go was published in 2005. But I'd second it if you posted in the other thread.

I was planning on reading it chronologically too, but some say to read it in the way the author intended - by the published dates. But it's all a preference in the end. :)
